Amazon Associates Program & Cookie Disclosure
LogicPrepper.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
How Cookies are Used: As part of this program, we use cookies to track the “referral” of a visitor from this site to Amazon. When you click on an affiliate link for a product we have audited or specified, a small text file (cookie) is placed in your browser. This cookie typically has a 24-hour duration and serves two technical purposes:
- Attribution: It identifies to Amazon that the traffic originated from our specific “Logic Lab” architecture.
- Logic-Based Recommendation: It allows Amazon to credit this site for the referral if a purchase is made within the 24-hour window, at no additional cost to you.
Data Sovereignty: These cookies do not store personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, address, or financial data. They track the session logic only. You may opt to clear your browser cookies at any time or use a “private/incognito” browser session if you wish to bypass this tracking. However, please note that using these links is a primary way this site remains a free, ad-light resource for the engineering and preparedness community.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
Email Infrastructure and Data Processing (AWS SES)
We utilize Amazon Web Services (AWS) Simple Email Service (SES) as our primary outbound communication relay. This ensures high deliverability and cryptographic integrity of the technical data and updates we transmit to our subscribers.
Data Handling & Security: When you subscribe to any of our mailing lists or contact us via our site, your email address and associated metadata are processed through the AWS SES infrastructure. This processing is subject to the following logic:
- Encrypted Transit: All communications are transmitted using Transport Layer Security (TLS) to prevent unauthorized interception of data between our server and your inbox.
- Authentication: We employ SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) to verify the “Logic Prepper” identity and ensure the integrity of the message content.
- Data Sovereignty: AWS SES acts as a data processor. While your email passes through their secure global infrastructure, Amazon is contractually prohibited from using your email address for their own marketing purposes or selling your data to third parties.
Telemetry and Tracking: To optimize our “Communication & Signal” system, we may utilize AWS SES telemetry to monitor Open Rates and Click-Through Rates. This data allows us to audit which technical topics are most relevant to our audience and to maintain a “clean” subscriber list by removing inactive addresses (improving overall system health).
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Subscriber Data Management (FluentCRM & MailPoet)
We utilize FluentCRM and MailPoet to manage our internal subscriber database and communication logs. Unlike traditional “Software as a Service” (SaaS) platforms that store your data on external corporate servers, our primary database architecture is Self-Hosted.
Data Storage Logic:
- Local Sovereignty: Your name, email address, and system “Rank” are stored directly within our encrypted site database. This ensures that your data remains under our direct control and is not subject to the data-mining practices of third-party marketing “Clouds.”
- Segmenting & Tagging: To provide relevant technical data, we use “tags” within FluentCRM to identify your interests (e.g., Energy & Power or Post-Grid). This logic is used purely to filter the “Signal” you receive and is never shared with outside entities.
- Redundancy & Backups: As part of our siteโs structural integrity protocols, your data is included in our periodic off-site encrypted backups. These backups are maintained to ensure system recovery in the event of a hardware failure.
Data Retention Policy: We maintain your subscriber record only as long as the “Communication Loop” is active. If you choose to “Unsubscribe,” your data is immediately moved to a suppression list to ensure no further signals are sent, and you may request a Total Data Purge (the “Right to be Forgotten”) at any time by contacting the System Administrator.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
